Week 5: Volleyball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (October 3, 2017)— Crystal Hall (Tuskegee) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Offensive Player of the Week, while Naporsha Gilliam (LeMoyne-Owen) was named Defensive Player of the Week, released Tuesday by the league office.
Brianne McMillian (Benedict) was tabbed Setter of the Week, alongside Allison Weimer (Spring Hill) who earned Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE
Crystal Hall, Outside Hitter, Tuskegee
Hall helped the Golden Tigers this past weekend to a 3-1 record over Kentucky State, Lane, and Central State.
Hall, a freshman from Morrow, Ga finished the week with 57 kills, nine digs, and four assisted blocks.
Hall reached her season-high kill statistics as she recorded 21 kills against Central State.
DEFENSIVE
Naporsha Gilliam, Defensive Specialist, LeMoyne-Owen
Gilliam led the Lady Magicians to a 3-2 record last weekend at the SIAC Western Cluster as they defeated Miles, Central State, and Tuskegee.
The sophomore, Arkansas native, finished the week with 59 digs, two kills, and two service aces.
SETTER
Brianne McMillian, Setter, Benedict
McMillian led the Lady Tigers to a 2-0 record last week over Columbia College and conference opponent, Claflin.
The Junior finished the week with 87 kills, 29 digs, three service aces, and two block assists.
The Birmingham, Ala. native recorded her season-high with 56 assists against Claflin.
NEWCOMER
Allison Weimer, Outside Hitter, Spring Hill
Weimer assisted the Lady Badgers to a 5-0 record this past weekend at the SIAC Western Cluster as they defeated Central State, Kentucky State, LeMoyne-Owen, Lane, and Miles.
The Covington, La. native finished the week with 40 kills and a .456 hitting percentage. She also added eleven digs, five service aces, three assists, five solo blocks and six block assists.
Weimer reached her season-high dig statistic as she recorded seven digs against Central State.
