SIAC Announces Cross Country Weekly Honors

ATLANTA, Ga (October 4, 2017)—Lauryn Wilson (Albany State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Female Runner of the Week, alongside Trey Simons (Morehouse) was tabbed Male Runner of the Week, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Wilson finished first place in the Willie Laster Invitational Women’s 5,000 Meter Run this past weekend at ASU’s West Campus with a time of 20:52.40. The Lady Golden Rams saved their best overall finish for their home course with a team average time of 21:42 in their 5k run. Albany State swept the top four spots with 17 points and taking their first team win of the season.

Albany State will return to action on Friday, October 6th at the SCAD Invitational in Newnan, GA.

Simons finished first place in the Willie Laster Invitational Men’s 8,000 Meter Run this past weekend with a time of 27:42.10. The Maroon Tigers finished with a team average time of 28:40 in their 8k run. Morehouse claimed three other Top 10 spots and finished with a season-low 27 points

Morehouse travels this Saturday, October 7th to Cary, NC for the HBCU Championship meet.
